Through the Equity decision screen, you are able to either issue more shares or alternatively repurchase shares (equity) in your firm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Issuing Shares<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Issuing Shares is an alternative method to raise more capital (cash) in a way that doesn&#8217;t require repayments or bears interest like <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"long-term debt (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smartsims.com\/support\/article\/long-term-debt-mikes-bikes\/\" target=\"_blank\">Long-Term Debt<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The negative effect of issuing shares (with all other variables held constant)  is the dilution of ownership of your firm. This results in a reduction in the value of your Share Price and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Shareholder Value (SHV) (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smartsims.com\/support\/article\/mikesbikes-shareholder-value\/\" target=\"_blank\">Shareholder Value (SHV)<\/a>.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Repurchasing Shares<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If your firm has excess cash and no other profitable uses for it, you can choose to repurchase shares. This will reduce the number of shares among which the firm&#8217;s future profits must be distributed.
