{"id":2448,"date":"2023-09-23T01:44:59","date_gmt":"2023-09-23T01:44:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.smartsims.com\/support\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=2448"},"modified":"2024-04-13T09:04:49","modified_gmt":"2024-04-13T09:04:49","slug":"quality-control-in-mikesbikes-advanced","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.smartsims.com\/support\/article\/quality-control-in-mikesbikes-advanced\/","title":{"rendered":"Quality Decisions in MikesBikes Advanced"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The quality of your finished products is determined by both your <strong>Internal Quality<\/strong> decisions (which affect how many defective products you produce), and your <strong>External Quality<\/strong> which is what the customer actually sees after you catch some of those defective products via Inspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A high level of Internal Quality is attained through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smartsims.com\/support\/article\/human-resource-decisions-in-mikesbikes-advanced\/\">training of people<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.smartsims.com\/support\/article\/process-decisions-in-mikesbikes-advanced\/\"> maintenance of machines<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smartsims.com\/support\/article\/supply-chain-decisions-in-mikesbikes-advanced\/\">good supplier relations,<\/a> and Quality Systems Technology. This corresponds to &#8220;quality at the source&#8221; and allows you to minimize the number of defective products you produce.  ie. your <strong>Product Defect Rate (%)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>External Quality (and your<strong> Quality Rating<\/strong>) is based on how your customers perceive your products. The more defective products that reach customers, the lower your Quality Rating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So a high Quality Rating can be achieved either by investing in people and processes (Internal Quality) or by conducting extensive inspection to catch defects before they reach the customer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your Quality Rating is what you see in the <strong>Market Summary report<\/strong>, and this is what customers use when deciding which products to buy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Quality Systems Technology (Internal Quality)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Investment in quality systems requires installing specialist equipment to monitor the<br>manufacturing process and identify product defects at the source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"375\" height=\"141\" src=\"https:\/\/www.smartsims.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/MBA-Top-Menu-Quality-Systems.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2452\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.smartsims.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/MBA-Top-Menu-Quality-Systems.png 375w, https:\/\/www.smartsims.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/MBA-Top-Menu-Quality-Systems-300x113.png 300w, https:\/\/www.smartsims.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/MBA-Top-Menu-Quality-Systems-50x19.png 50w, https:\/\/www.smartsims.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/MBA-Top-Menu-Quality-Systems-60x23.png 60w, https:\/\/www.smartsims.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/MBA-Top-Menu-Quality-Systems-100x38.png 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 375px) 100vw, 375px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This technology is expensive but is most cost-effective for high production volumes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note that your investment in Quality Systems Technology is relative to the size of your Factory.  So if you purchase a lot of Factory Capacity, then you should expect to spend significantly more on Quality Systems Technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember to also review your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smartsims.com\/support\/article\/human-resource-decisions-in-mikesbikes-advanced\/\">Staff Training<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smartsims.com\/support\/article\/supply-chain-decisions-in-mikesbikes-advanced\/\">Supplier Relations<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smartsims.com\/support\/article\/process-decisions-in-mikesbikes-advanced\/\">Preventative Maintenance<\/a> to improve your Internal Quality and reduce your Product Defect Rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Inspection Rate (External Quality)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once your bikes have been produced, a final quality control inspection identifies product defects before they reach the customer.
